Meet Rob
The human behind the weirdness.
Hi. I’m Rob Berg, a Vancouver-based artist, designer, and lifelong perpetrator of strange drawings.
I’ve spent much of my working life in commercial creativity, helping other people bring their ideas into the world. This little corner of the internet is where I’m finally giving my own peculiar inhabitants some room to roam.
Apparently, they’ve been waiting.
A little order. A lot of chaos.
My drawings are crowded with faces, creatures, improbable machinery, and details that tend to reveal themselves the longer you look. Sometimes they inhabit a letter. Sometimes an animal. Sometimes the original subject appears to have lost control of the situation entirely.
I like that tension between a recognizable shape and all the unexpected things happening inside it. Something catches your eye from across the room, then rewards you for getting closer.
There’s humour in the work, a little absurdity, and plenty of room for you to discover something I didn’t deliberately put there.
You’re welcome to tell me what it all means. I was mostly concentrating on drawing the weird little guy in the corner.
Why put it out into the world?
For years, I’ve shared drawings with friends and family while quietly wondering whether I should do something more with them.
Eventually, “one day” starts to feel like a questionable business plan.
So here we are. The Chaotic Art of Rob Berg is a growing collection of my artwork, available as prints for people who enjoy having something a little unusual on their walls.
It means a great deal that something I’ve drawn might become part of someone else’s home. Hopefully, it gives you something new to notice, something to smile at, or something to discuss when the conversation gets awkward.
Help shape what comes next.
Have a favourite drawing you’d like to see as a print? Waiting for a particular chaotic letter? Have an idea for a commission?
Thanks for stopping by and spending a little time inside my head.
Please watch your step on the way out.
